Naomi C. Rose, formerly a social worker and software engineer,
had a series of dreams 12 years ago that led her to reroute her life.
"Follow the path of Tibetan Buddhism" and "Go to art school in order to
create children's books," her dreams told her. Lama Surya Das, a highly
trained lama in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and author of several books,
became her teacher, asking her to turn stories from his adult book of Tibetan
folktales into children's stories to benefit children of the West. Thus was
born Tibetan Tales for Little Buddhas, Naomi's first vividly illustrated
children's book, a recent recipient of the Nautilus Award.
All of this called her to surrender her introverted ways and discover her public
voice - a voice for peace and kindness in the world. Currently working on other
books, she also offers Taste of Tibet programs for children, presenting storytelling,
craft projects, chanting and slide shows. To find out more about Naomi and her work,
